Chicago Bulls 1st Game Breakdown

Copyright 2008 NBAE (Photo by Gary Dineen/NBAE via Getty Images)

The Bulls came out with a starting line up of: Derrick Rose, Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng, Tyrus Thomas, and Drew Gooden.

First off, before I get into any details, I would like to speak on Larry Hughes. Here are some of his comments:

"I came in ready to go, and I've been on the second team from Day One," Hughes said. "Maybe that's how [coach Vinny Del Negro] sees it. I'm not sure. I haven't talked to him about it because it's camp. And camp is usually pretty fluid. I don't know what the reasoning is behind it. We'll have to see if this is how it's going to be, I guess. You never know."

I think the reason why he got teardrops tatted on his face is because it's stands for how big of a crybaby he is. Larry Hughes needs to be shipped out of Chicago. He made me sick last night. Taking bad shots, dribbling out the clock, the usual Larry Hughes stuff.

Back to more Bulls.

Derrick Rose played like any rookie point guard would in his first game. He had a lot of turnovers, but most of those were not his fault. If Tyrus would of caught that alley-oop I would of crapped my pants. That would of probably brought the crowd alive. Other than that I saw some flashes of brilliance from Rose, and so far so good.
Grade: C

Kirk Hinrich looked like a journeyman out there. He really didn't do a good job of asserting himself at the 2. He passed up shots, etc. It might take a while for Hinrich to get back into the flow of being a 2 guard.
Grade: C-

Luol Deng came on late in the 2nd half of the game. In the beginning he looked like an average joe. He looked like he didn't care. He has 71 million reasons to care. If I were Lu, I would command the ball more. He didn't do that.
Grade: C

Quick Note: Brandan Bass killed the entire Chicago Bulls on that dunk.

Tyrus Thomas has worked on his game in the offseason a lot. If he can get that jumper to hit consistently, watch out.
Grade: B-

Drew Gooden held his own against a bigger Dampier. It's going to be more of the same from Drew 12ppg 10rpb.
Grade: B

Andres Nocioni needs to do 2 things; 1)Cut his hair, 2) Play like he does for Argentina.

Larry Hughes (see above)

Aaron Gray aka "sheep herder" needs to play more. He's got some low post game. Hate if you want. Also looks like someone put a bowl on his head, and cut around it.

Thabo Sefolosha looked more like a Chevy Thabo rather than a ball player last night.

Joakim Noah showing off his fright fest look.

Vinny Del Negro looked lost sometimes, but no matter how nervous he was his hair was never nervous.

Derrick Rose the Man Child

Derrick Rose is going to be an NBA Superstar, it is just a matter of time. The year after the Bulls drafted J-Will the NBA removed the "hand checking" rule. J-Will never had a chance to play in the NBA with this rule change. This Bulls Weekly reporter is a big believer that it would have amped up his game big time because of J-Will's athleticism and strength.

Jack Ramsey GM Steve Kerrs take on the no hand check rule...

"If you are athletic and can put the ball on the floor, the rules benefit you," Ramsay says. "It's that simple, and no one takes more advantage of that than Kobe."
Kerr says the elimination of the hand check has been a boon to scoring, especially to players such as Bryant. Since defenders aren't allowed to impede his progress with the hand check, opponents have often found themselves at his mercy this season.

Derrick rose is the perfect storm of athleticism and strength for this rule. We've seen the damage that quick players CP3, Nash, T-Parker have had going to the cup over the past 4 years.

With Derrick Rose you have that type of quickness... but much better hops, strength, and explosiveness. There is no one and will be no one in the NBA that can stop Derrick Rose once he gets his bearings. Rose will be a match-up nightmare... way to big and strong for the quick NBA point guards and too quick and explosive for NBA shooting guards and small forwards. Success in the NBA is all about taking advantage of mismatches and the Bulls can do this on every play. Rose will be able to drive and dish or drive and finish all day in the NBA. With outside shooters that can knock down jumpers (Gordon, Deng, Noc, Kirk) and big guys that can catch lobs (Tyrus, Noah). There will be no "good" way to defend this freakishly athletic point guard.

DON'T BELIEVE ME??? TAKE A LOOK AT THIS TRAILER FOR NBA 2K9... I THINK THEY FEEL THE SAME WAY!

Bulls Ben Gordon Accepts Qualifying Offer

It's about time. Ben Gordon was reportedly offered 6 years 59million. Are you kidding me? According to rumorpress.net,

Gordon will be with the team for at least one more season as he has verbally agreed to take the 1 year qualifying offer worth 6.4 million. Gordon turned down a 6 year 59 million dollar offer and will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. The 6 foot 3 Guard could make it official as early as Tuesday.

I wonder how many more shots he is going to chuck up this season. The back court is crowded and you know as soon as he gets in the game he is gonna be all AI on everyone.

2008 Chicago Bulls Media Day

Well, another NBA season is among us, and there are many questions involving the Chicago Bulls.

What the f*ck is wrong with Ben Gordon?

2 words, hard headed.

Is the podcast coming back?

Yes, the podcast is coming back. The 1st podcast of the season is still not scheduled.

How's Drew Gooden's beard looking?

Word out of the Berto Center is that his beard is mopping the floors.

Did Noce cut his hair?

I hope so.

Does Del Negro use Mousse or hair spray?

Mousse. You cannot achieve a flawless shine like that with hair spray.

According to ESPN,

Luol Deng, Great Britain: The Chicago Bulls forward was, by far, the most dominant force in Group D.

After only two days of practice with the squad, he dropped 30 points as the Brits came within 0.5 seconds of upsetting Israel in Tel Aviv. His numbers of 24.2 points, 5.8 boards, 3.8 assists and 1.6 blocks a game reflected his value to the team.

With first place assured, Deng missed Saturday's final game in Bosnia-Herzegovina with a toe injury. But new Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro need not fear, the Brits were merely making sure their most valuable asset returned to his regular job without any serious problems.

F*Ck The Chicago Media

This summer may be the worst summer ever in terms of coverage of the Chicago Bulls. In past summers I had the delight of reading about how the Bulls are individually getting ready for the season, etc. This season on every major Chicago paper, they post something every other month. It's like pulling teeth for them to write about the Bulls. If the Bulls were a favorite in the East, then the papers would be flooded with Chicago Bulls nonsense. On a brighter note Mariotti got fired. Ben Gordon, get him the hell out of here. YOU ARE NOT WORTH $12 MILLIONS DOLLARS!!! Your worth 5-9 million. You greedy bastard.

Ben Gordon Signs with Sacramento

In a surprising fashion, Ben Gordon has signed with Sacramento. No no no... not the Kings but the Monarchs. Gordon, who previously played for the Chicago Bulls could not come to a contract agreement with the Bulls or any other NBA team that "he felt" paid him for what he was worth. Gordon decieded to join the WNBA's Monarchs instead of signing a smaller NBA contract. When asked about this surprise move Gordon responded "I feel like the WNBA will be more open to my bitching and complaining, I think this is where I belong"

Ben I think you will fit right in....

Del Negro's Mafia

The Bulls have now begun the search for assistant coaches, for the 2008-2009 upcoming season. Del Negro reportedly will be working with John Paxson to fill his assistant staff. Two interesting names have popped up over the last few weeks, one being X-Bulls Champion Toni Kukoc. Del Negro and Kukoc hooped together back in the day in Europe and remain close. The other big name is Tom Thibodeau, the defensive mastermind, who is currently helping the Celtics shut down Kobe in the finals. It's important the Bulls add some solid assistants, with different coaching experiences because Del Negro is lacking so much in that department. Del Negro has a business background in the NBA thus far (running the front office for the Suns). Maybe he could install a management coaching style where the assistants work closer with the players... Thibodeau (Defensively) and the waiter Kukoc (Offensively)??? and Del Negro looks at the bigger picture, like Phil Jackson.

Just because this coach has no experience on any coaching level doesn't mean he doesn't know what he's doing. Everyone is saying to fire Paxson and that "life long" Bulls fans are picking a new favorite team. C'mon now. You know damn well that if they win 50+ and do good in the playoffs that you will be all over Paxson's nuts saying: "I knew Paxson knew what he was doing all along." Just give this some time, and half way through the season make your assessment. Right now is way to early. Now we have the coach out of the way, it's time to look forward to the workouts with Beasley and Rose. This will ultimately decide who is coming to Chicago. Stay Tuned....

According to many reports,

Doug Collins is expected to be named the new Chicago Bulls head coach. Huh? I don't get it. Earlier this month, Collins told ESPN.com's Marc Stein that he had "no interest" in coaching again. Collins was fired by the Bulls in 1989, despite leading the team to the Eastern Conference finals. He was replaced by Phil Jackson, who went on to coach the team to six NBA titles.

I don't know. Good or bad? I guess it's better than some of the names Paxson was interviewing.

Like we didn't already Noah...

According to an article by Lisa Fisher of the Gainsville Sun...

"Gainesville Police issued a notice to appear in court to former Gator basketball standout Joakim Noah based on allegations of possession of less than 20 grams of cannibis and an open container violation early Sunday.
Noah, 23, was spotted by police in the 100 block of S. Main Street at about 1:50 a.m., said GPD spokeswoman Officer Summer Hallett. Police reported he was carrying what appeared to be a clear plastic cup with an iced, amber-colored beverage inside. Noah put the cup down when he saw law enforcement, she said. Police checked the cup and said it smelled like an alcoholic-beverage.

Police took Noah to the department's downtown annex. While at the annex, officers reported they found a cannibis cigarette in his pants pocket, Hallett said.
The notice to appear means Noah has a court appearance on the charges in June, Hallett said.
It is standard procedure to issue a notice to appear instead of take someone to jail based on these charges, Hallett said. Officers can jail a person in this kind of case but generally do not if a person is cooperative and there are no other issues such as the individual cannot be positively identified. Hallett noted that Noah was "very cooperative" with police when he was stopped.
Noah recently completed his rookie season with the Chicago Bulls in the NBA. "

Maybe Noah was burning down a blunt in celebration of the first pick??? I can't get mad because I know the BullsWeekly.com staff did the same thing...

According to espn.com

" GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Authorities in Gainesville have charged Chicago Bulls forward and former Florida star Joakim Noah with possession of marijuana and having an open container of alcohol.

Noah
Gainesville police spokesman Sgt. Rick Roberts said Noah was arrested around 1:50 a.m. Sunday after an officer spotted him on a sidewalk holding a plastic cup containing an amber drink, a violation of city law. During a search at the station, officers found marijuana in his pocket.
Noah was released after signing a notice to appear before a judge -- standard procedure for such offenses. He could face up to 6 months in jail and a $500 fine for the marijuana charge.
Noah led the Gators to back-to-back national championships before being picked ninth overall in last June's draft by the Bulls."

Rip's Mock Draft

1. (Bulls) Derrick Rose.
Allows the Bulls to have a core of players Rose, Thabo, Deng, Tyrus, and Noah all under the Age of 24. Makes the previous generation of players the veterans... Gooden, Hinrich, Nocioni. With a 6-5 PG the Bulls could move players like Hughes and Gordon.
Bulls could be 2 years away from a really serious team (Hughes big expiring contract will be a valuable trading piece down the road) Rose will also bring out the best in players like Deng, Tyrus, and Noah who are good finishers when they have a playmaker around them helping them get good shots.
Who doesn't like sick PGs???.... Ever since the NBA took the hand-check rule out of the NBA, players like Chris Paul Tony Parker and Deron Williams who can go to the bucket with a clear path...have been feasting... Plus the Bulls need an IDENTITY.. Rose or Beasley will finally be that... Beasley has already publicly said he doesn't know if he's ready for the NBA lifestyle. Rose seems more mature and he would love to play for the Bulls... Him and Noah can bring the "want-to-be-here" personality the Bulls need.
2. (Heat) D-Wade and Beasley could be a dominate 1-2 in the east for many years.
3. (Timberwolves) Brook Lopez and Harrington could give the T-Wolves great inside size, and get open shots for McCants and others.
4. (Sonics) Jerryd Bayless could be a very effective point gaurd with upcoming stars Kevin Durant and Jeff Green on the wings.
5. (Grizzlies) OJ Mayo is the star that Memphis needs with the loss of Gasol. Also makes a nice compliment to Connely who is undersized.
6. (Knicks) Eric Gordon.... I can't remember the last time the Knicks passed up an opportunity to pick up a gunning SG... why should they stop now??? Plus the big apple likes big names.
I only did the first 6 picks because i didnt know how to copy a bigger screenshot from espn.com that included more then 6 picks and paste it into paint to load onto BullsWeekly as a JPEG... maybe mo-robb can help??

Derrick Rose playing for the Chicago Bulls???

According to Steve Tucker of the Sun Times...

If the Bulls make hometown hero Derrick Rose the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft — as expected — that’s just fine with Rose.
The Chicago native, who led Simeon High School to back-to-back state championships in 2006 and 2007, said Tuesday he is excited about the prospect of playing for the Bulls and acknowledged there would be some great benefits to playing in his hometown.
Derrick Rose won't be able to wear No. 23 if he's drafted by the Bulls, but he said it's a small price to pay for playing for his hometown team.(AP)
‘‘I grew up in Englewood, played in the Chicago Public League, and it would be nice to make my hometown proud and give my family and friends the opportunity to see me play often,’’ Rose said. ‘‘I come from a very close family, and I have a very special bond with my brother Reggie, who has really helped guide and prepare me throughout my career in AAU, high school and college.’’
In Rose’s lone college season at Memphis, he guided the Tigers to the NCAA title game, where they lost to Kansas in overtime.
When asked about any drawbacks to playing in Chicago, Rose — who wore No. 23, which has been retired by the Bulls in honor of Michael Jordan, in high school in college — showed his humor.
‘‘I kind of got used to wearing No. 23, but I know it’s not going to happen in Chicago,’’ he said. ‘‘But that’s a small price to pay for playing in my hometown.
‘‘Every young kid who plays basketball dreams of playing in the NBA. The thought of being drafted by your hometown makes it extra special, especially when your team has a tradition like the Bulls and the great players that have come out of the organization. If it does happen, I promise to come ready and prepared to play, give it everything I have and do whatever I’m asked to do for the team.’’
Most analysts rate Rose and Kansas State power forward Michael Beasley as the top two prospects in the draft, but the Bulls’ greater need at point guard and Rose’s ties to the city make his selection seem more likely.
‘‘It’s a great situation for Derrick if he has a chance to come back here,’’ Reggie Rose said. ‘‘He grew up watching that No. 23 [Jordan], and he knows the history of the team and the great management they have.
‘‘Right now, he’s just working out, and you never know what’s going to happen. But it certainly would be great to see him come home and play.’’

The Nuggets are not committed to moving Anthony yet. But after his recent legal troubles plus five straight first-round losses, they are listening to offers for their players.

It's About Time

Photo: Chicago Sports

It's about time the Chicago Bulls made a change. Tom Dore was taken off the broadcast team and replaced with radio personality Neil Funk. I wish they would of taken Stacey King off the panel but unfortunately I think he still is in. Johnny Red Kerr is also out. He will be doing half time and post game shows. Also suprisingly I couldn't believe that they took Wayne Larivee off of WGN broadcasting. The Bulls are expected to make a formal announcement soon. I liked Wayne Larivee, but I'm glad Tom Dore is gone because he was the corniest announcer out there. Neil Funk brings excitement.

According to Chicago Sports,

The Bulls have decided to move radio voice Neil Funk to handle the call on television. Former WGN-Ch. 9 sports personality Chuck Swirsky will return to town to call play-by-play on radio. Currently, Swirsky holds a similar post for the Toronto Raptors.

Mike D'Antoni Fired?

According To SI,

Mike D'Antoni, the NBA's Coach of the Year for the 2004-05 season and the man credited with reinvigorating fast-break basketball in a league gone stale, will not be back to coach the Phoenix Suns for the 2008-09 season, SI.com has learned.

One landing spot for him would seem to be Chicago, where general manager John Paxson has not yet replaced Jim Boylan, who himself replaced Scott Skiles (now in charge in Milwaukee). The Bulls underachieved this season under both coaches but would seem to have the kind of offensive nucleus (Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, Kirk Hinrich, Andres Nocioni) with which D'Antoni could build.

I agree with SI. If D'Antoni comes to Chicago he will make Tyrus Thomas a man child. He will let all the players just chuck. They would be fun to watch. The only thing they would need is a legit PG. Stay Tuned.......

Tom Izzo To Coach Bulls?

According to Yahoo! Sports,

Bulls GM John Paxson granted Carlisle the first interview in the process, two league sources said, and Carlisle made a strong impression. But Chicago officials were still busy gathering intelligence on him Tuesday, reaching out around the league to those who had worked with him at stops with the Pacers and Pistons.

Nevertheless, the search won’t be limited to Carlisle. There’s been much internal discussion over Izzo, whom many NBA officials believe is one of the rare college coaches who can make the transition to the pros.

When reached on Tuesday night, Izzo told Yahoo! Sports that he hadn’t been contacted by the Bulls, but sounded willing to discuss the job with them.

I think Izzo would be a good coach in the NBA. Time will only tell what Paxson is going to do.

Charles Barkley Rips Bulls

According to TNT Analysis Charles Barkley, The Chicago Bulls are in trouble. He states: "Y'all in trouble."

"They have a bunch of good, little pieces, but they should have made trades," Barkley said. "Who is their best player? We start with that. Who is their best player? To be a great team in the NBA, you have to have at least one really good player. When you think about the Bulls, you don't even know who their best player is."

"When these guys turn down $10 million to $12 million [per year], I'm like, 'Are you kidding me?' " he said. "First of all, that's highway robbery if you get that much money. They're just good players, not great players.

"If you offer a good player $10 million a year, he should get a pen as fast as he can."

"Whoever didn't make that trade was just stupid," he said. "Hey, Luol Deng is a good player but he's never going to be Pau Gasol and he's definitely never going to be Kevin Garnett. And now you're stuck. You're up the creek without a paddle, plain and simple."

Well said Charles.

The Chicago Bulls Are A Broken Record

It's official, The Chicago Bulls are eliminated from Playoff contention. The Bulls lost to the Miami Heat tonight, 95-88. The Chicago Bulls were down as many as 15 to the worst team in the league. The Chicago Bulls lost to a roster full of D-Leaguers. How embarrassing. Have some pride in yourself. Luol Deng led the Bulls with 25 points. Joakim Noah contiues to play with pride scoring 16 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. This season can't end fast enough. The only good thing for the Bulls was that nobody decided to show up at the Miami arena. I don't blame them.

Chicago Bulls: Season Of Turmoil

Here is the newest video from Bulls Weekly.

Chicago Bulls: One Foot In The Grave

(AP Photo/Brian Kersey)

The Chicago Bulls are 1/2 a game from being eliminated from the playoffs. The Chicago Bulls lost another game at home to the Washington Wizards. Atlanta, which holds the eighth and final playoff berth in the East, defeated Philadelphia earlier Saturday night. The Bulls' number is down to one; another Bulls loss or Atlanta victory seals the deal.

“The whole season, there’s a lot of things to point at,” forward Luol Deng said. “Whatever it is, we just have to take it and accept it. I thought we worked hard and prepared ourselves, physically. But there’s a lot of growth that we have to do mentally. There’s a lot that we have to deal with mentally. I think we just need to grow up mentally. I don’t think we had it this year.”

Luol Deng is the front runner to have to grow up mentally.

Remember when the Bulls were "predicted" to be top 3 in the conference?

Benny The Bull Gets 'Hood'

Kevin Garnett and James Posey are a bunch a p*ssies. They thought that Benny The Bull was shooting T-Shirts at them. If I was Benny I would shoot T-Shirts at them to because I don't like Posey or Garnett. According to Chicago Sports.com,

The Celtics claimed the shirts hit Garnett and Posey.

Bulls personnel apologized to the Celtics for the mishap immediately after.

That didn't stop Garnett from having to be restrained by one official and Posey from saying—perhaps tongue in cheek—that he was sore and might need treatment on his back afterward.

C'mon Posey are you that big of a p*ssy? A t-shirt hit you and you need treatment on your back. The Celtics make me sick. Pressing the Bulls with 2 minutes left and have a double digit lead. Real Classy.

No Chance In Hell

Getty Images

There is no chance in hell that the Chicago Bulls will make the playoffs this year. How sad. The Bulls take on the Atlanta Hawks tonight, and we've been saying that every game is a must win, but we need to stop because the Bulls' players don't care if it's a must win. The Bulls are going to come out like a bunch of pu**ies tonight and play like a 3rd grade recreational team. I bet you can get 5 players from any junior college around the Chicagoland area that can play better than the Bulls are playing right now. At the beginning of the season I was looking forward to the 2008 playoffs, but now I have to look forward to see the Rocky Mountain Revue.

Shoutouts:

Kirk Hinrich: Thanks for being a p*ssy. Thanks for missing all of your shots and not being mentally tough.

Ben Gordon: Thanks for being selfish because you want to get paid. By the way you WILL NOT get max money. Thanks for dribbling off your foot when there is 4 seconds left in the game.

Luol Deng: Thanks for being soft.

Drew Gooden: Thanks for replacing Ben Wallace.

Joakim Noah: Thanks for being the only one hustling this season, and actually cared.

Thabo Sefolosha: Thanks for starting to show that your legit.

Chris Duhon: Thanks for getting crunk and keeping it real.

Aaron Gray: Thanks for being a big white guy that's worthless.

Andres Nocioni: Thanks for being Noce.

Tyrus Thomas: Thanks for not living up to the hype.

Larry Hughes: Thanks for taking bad shots. Thanks for loving strippers.

Skiles A Knick?

There are rumors going around that Donnie Walsh, who will join the Knicks will have Skiles on top of the coaching candidates. According to Newsday.com

"A person with knowledge of Walsh's thinking said former Bulls coach Scott Skiles would be high on the list of coaches he might consider. Mark Jackson is a consideration, but don't be surprised if current Knicks assistant Herb Williams gets a long look. Williams and Walsh have remained close since their days with the Pacers. "Donnie certainly has got a lot of feelings for Herb," the person said."

That means Skiles would be reunited with Curry and Crawford, and I'm sure they would be thrilled about that because none of them would play. Stephon Marbury would also be riding the pine. I would love to see Skiles coach the Knicks, because it might bring something back to the Bulls Vs. Knicks rivalry.

Bulls Move One Step Closer By Beating Hawks

The Bulls moved one step closer to the Hawks for the 8th spot in the East. The Bulls defeated the Hawks 103-94. The Bulls were led by Drew Gooden, who had his best game as a Bull with 31 points and 16 rebounds. The Hawks made a comeback in the 4th quarter cutting the lead to 3, but Hinrich hit a key shot, and the Bulls never looked back. The Chicago Bulls face off with the 76ers tomorrow, and try to continue to gain some ground in the playoff race. The Bulls are currently 2 games back.

Dear Paxson: Get Gilbert

Dear John Paxson,

Get Gilbert Arenas. Gilbert Arenas is expected to opt out of his contract this summer to get max money. I know he is coming off of knee surgery this year, but he is an all-star player that the Bulls haven't had since 98. Gilbert will give you 28ppg and 5apg. He also loves taking the final shot and usually makes it. He has that kill that no one on the Bulls has. He doesn't shy away from taking that clutch shot. Washington will most likely want a sign and trade, so take Hughes and Gordon and trade them for Arenas. Now you have Kirk Hinrich, Gilbert Arenas, Luol Deng(If Signed), Drew Gooden, Joakim Noah. That's a squad. You would have Nocioni and Tyrus Thomas coming off the bench to provide that spark. I've seen so many ideas for the Bulls next year, but I really think this one has a legitimate chance of happening, depending on John Paxson's mood. I also don't see Boylan in the Bulls future plans, and it looks like Carlisle is the front runner for the job. So John, think about this deal and get the Bulls back to being a contender.

Sincerely,

Bulls Weekly

Noce Is Sorry

After Andres Nocioni got gangster on Jim Boylan, he apologized.

According to K.C. Johnson's blog:

Andres Nocioni and Jim Boylan literally kissed and made up Monday, with the Bulls' interim coach hamming it up for the TV cameras and kissing the forward he fined on the head as Nocioni addressed the media.

The Bulls fined Nocioni an undisclosed amount on Monday for berating Boylan after he got pulled from a short stint in Saturday's home loss to the Pacers. Nocioni apologized without taking questions Saturday night but sat for a lengthy interview session on Monday and reiterated his regret for his uncharacteristic team-destructive outburst.

"I'm frustrated with myself right now and I'm frustrated with everything," Nocioni said. "When something's not going the right direction, you want it go the right direction and it's difficult. I think I'm not playing my minutes because I'm not playing well.

When I go to the game, I'm not bringing my energy and I'm not playing like the way I used to play. I don't know why. I don't have any explanation for it."
(ChicagoSports.com)

I also heard some rumors that Rick Carlisle is the front runner for the Head Coaching job next year. His style is like Skiles, but he is more quiet than Skiles. Stay Tuned...

Playoffs????????

Don't look now, but the Bulls are only 1.5 games out of the final playoff spot. Most people already have their Cubs and Sox gear out, but the Bulls have a legit shot at making the playoffs. In a season filled with disapointment.... that had experts picking them to win the East and with the possibilities of a trade for the best player on the planet that almost happened... the Bulls still might make the playoffs...

You know what I hope they do... because for atleast 4 nights... all the bullshit won't matter anymore... It'll just be the Bulls vs Boston win or go home.... the Bulls have one more game tonight vs the Spurs, and they are done playing the Western Conference for the SEASON!!!!! thank god... The Bulls final 15 games will be against the Eastern Conference.... 9 of them are at home... they finish the season like this....

Indiana, Atlanta, @ 76ers, @ Atlanta, Milwaukee, Boston, @ Cavs, Washington, @ Miami, @ Magic, Cavs, Magic, @ Milwaukee, Toronto... Lots of winnable games

10-5 should get them in maybe even 9-6....

Go BULLS

Scott Skiles To Coach IU?

According to the Chicago Sun Times,

"Indiana University is expected to contact former Bulls coach Scott Skiles when it launches its coaching search, a source said Tuesday.

"If they're smart enough to hire him, they'll win a national championship in one or two years," said Bulls coach Jim Boylan, a former Skiles assistant who succeeded Skiles after he was fired by the Bulls on Dec. 24.

"I can see Scott coaching anywhere. He's a great coach and would do a great job at your local high school, grade school and he'd be a great coach at Indiana."

"He'll relate well to college players, because he needs everybody on the same page to fall into his system,'' Bulls center Joakim Noah said. ''And he could definitely do that on the college level."

Scott Skiles lives in Bloomington, IN, so the move makes sense for Skiles. I would think he would do a good job, because athletes at the college level listen to what their coach says, unlike some people in the NBA.

Bulls Close Out Nets

(AP Photo/Charles Rex Arbogast)

After 2 straight 4th quarter collapses, the Chicago Bulls came to play tonight. The Bulls were led by Drew Gooden's 19 points and 11 rebounds. Luol Deng had 20 points and 9 rebounds and Larry Hughes chipped in with 16 points and 4 steals. The Bulls played well as a team and passed the ball great. The Chicago Bulls had 30 assists. The Bulls looked like they were going to blow another lead in the 3rd quarter when the Nets went into a zone. The Nets cut the lead down to 9, but Ben Gordon hit a key three, and the Bulls never looked back. Ben Gordon ended up with 17 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds. The Chicago Bulls will play the Indiana Pacers on Thursday. Hopefully they can string some wins together to make a playoff run.

Tyrys Thomas is NOT a bust

NBAE/Getty Images

I noticed that a popular opinion on Bulls Weekly right now is that Tyrus Thomas is a bust. Yes, his field goal percentage is down, and there have been questions about his work ethic and attitude. However, his averages in scoring, rebounding and assists are all up, and he still shows flashes of excellence and his explosiveness is undeniable. I know I sound like a broken record, but he is only 21 years old. When he was drafted, everyone pretty much said he was about three years away from contributing seriously. Now he's not even had two full years in the league and he's already being labeled a bust. He's still learning a lot and if he can ever secure a decent midrange J and some handles, I can see him becoming a superstar in the NBA. However, if we're having this discussion again at the end of his third year, I'll agree that he is a bust, and the Bulls should part ways with him. But until then, please have some patience, and don't take out your aggression on a horribly disappointing and borderline disastrous season on one of your best prospects for the future. Wait it out.

Tyrus Thomas Is A Bust

It is hard for me to say Tyrus Thomas is a bust, because I was a huge Tyrus fan when he came to the Bulls. I bought both his white and red jersey. After watching him play this season I've come to the conclusion that he is not good. The only thing Tyrus has going for him is his athleticism. Other than that the only skill he has is jumping and dunking. He has a low basketball IQ, and his ignorance will always be a roadblock for him being a great player. People say that his off-season workouts are at a high school level instead of a NBA level. If that's the case, he will NEVER be a superstar or even close to a superstar in this league. He will have your occasional TOP 10 plays, but that's it.

Here is a video of Tyrus that had me raving about him. He reminded me of a more athletic Shawn Marion, but comparisons are like a**holes, everyone's got one.

I could be wrong, and Tyrus could come out next year and be a monster, if it's for the Bulls or another team. In the mean time he needs to get back to his old self, and start trying to play.

No Respect For Jim Boylan

(AP Photo/Pat Semansky)

After watching the Bulls blow two 4th quarter leads in a row, I began to think. I've been watching the players reaction to Boylan ever since Day 1 of the experiment. The players don't respect Boylan at all. If the players had any respect for him they would D up a little bit in the 4th quarter. They were outscored 33 - 13. That is pitiful. Chris Paul got to the basket so easy it made me sick. Players skip practices, miss shoot arounds, and etc. It seems like the players have tuned him out. Jim Boylan never and will never have control of this team. If Paxson brings back Boylan, than John Paxson needs to be fired. The Chicago Bulls players are also to blame. The Bulls players' unprofessionalism is really sad to see. Can anyone tell me why Larry Hughes takes dumb shots, or Ben Gordon always dribbles off his leg with time running out? We need a TRUE point guard on this team because Hinrich is not that. I see a lot of changes this offseason, so strap on your seat belts.

Chris Paul Destroys The Bulls

Photo by Gregory Shamus/NBAE via Getty Images

The Chicago Bulls let another victory slip through their hands Monday night. The Bulls sporting the traditional St. Patrick's Day green jersey, fell 108-97. Chris Paul proved tonight why he's the BEST Point Guard in the NBA. He had 37 points, 13 assists, and 4 rebounds. He made every single Bulls defeneder look silly. He made things look easy out there, and now I know why Tyson Chandler has blossomed. If you even care what the Bulls did, Ben Gordon had 31 points and Drew Gooden once again had a nice game with 23 points and 12 rebounds. I am starting to lose my mind with the Chicago Bulls. I have no more answers. I have dissected it from every angle and still I have nothing. It's time to scout players that we can potentially draft, instead of wasting our time watching these losers.

Bulls Blow It Against The Sixers

The Chicago Bulls blew a 18 point lead in the 4th quarter. This game showed me that the Chicago Bulls will not be in the playoffs because they played like a bunch of pansies down the final 8 minutes of the game. Hey Ben Gordon, nice shot to try to tie the game. Hey Boylan, thanks for sitting Noah. Hey Boylan, you suck. Hey Bulls, you suck. The only bright spot of the game was Thabo Sefolosha's game. He had 20 points (8-13FG), 3 rebounds, 2 assists, in only 23 minutes of action. The Chicago Bulls are ________________________________________________________. (FILL IN THE BLANK).

Question: Who is better the Chicago Bulls or the Chicago Sky?

Chicago Bulls: Where Are They Now 4?

Here is Kornel David doing his thing for the Bulls.

And Here Is Kornel David doing his thing overseas.

This week is a treat for Chicago Bulls: Where are they now? This week's feature is the none other than the "Hungarian Jordan" aka Kornel David. Dávid was signed by the Chicago Bulls on October 1, 1997 and waived on October 28. He then spent the next part of the 1997-98 season with the Rockford Lightning in the CBA but was released on December 1997. He later moved back to Hungary, signed for the remainder of the season by Albacomp Székesfehérvár, winning the 1997-98 Hungarian National Championship in the process. He would also spend part of the next season with Albacomp Székesfehérvár.

On 21 January 1999, Dávid was signed as a free agent by Chicago Bulls and was waived on January '00. A few days later, he signed to the first of two consecutive 10-day contracts after which he moved back to Hungary on February signed for the remainder of the season by Albacomp Székesfehérvár. Again Dávid would bring accolades by leading the Albacomp Székesfehérvár to the 2000 Hungarian National Cup. Next, Dávid signed as free agent by Toronto Raptors on August '00 and was then traded to Detroit Pistons on February '01.

Dávid played 109 NBA games, starting 11, averaging 5.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.

He went to Spain for the 2003-04 season, donning jersey number 18 for TAU Cerámica. Dávid played a decisive role in the team's first Final Four appearance. He averaged 10.3 points and 4.2 rebounds in the regular season, but his numbers went up to 14.5 points and 5.3 rebounds in the Top 16, helping Tau to reach the playoffs. When Euroleague.net sat down with Dávid in Vitoria days after the team made it to the Final Four and asked him about his feelings of reaching the big event. "I think it's an unbelievable feeling," Dávid told Euroleague.net. "I am a European player, and as you know, from a small country, Hungary, that is not a big basketball country. To achieve this goal is one of the best moments of my career." He has won the 2004 and 2006 Spanish National Cup (King's Cup) with Tau Cerámica Saski Baskonia Vitoria.

Thabo Sefolosha Is Legit

Photo by Gary Dineen/NBAE via Getty Images

After attending last nights game against the Jazz, I said to myself "Thabo Can Hoop." Thabo is really blossoming this year after getting increased minutes. Last night was his first game back from a groin injury that kept him out of the lineup for 6 games. Thabo played 13:30 and was 4-5 from the field with 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. His +/- was higher than any Bulls player last night at +17 in only 13 minutes of playing time!

Thabo Sefolosha's length is such an asset because he can distract bigger 2 guards. With that in mind, it looks that Thabo is the future guard of the Bulls. Whether that will be the 1 or the 2 he is going to be in the backcourt picture.

As crazy as this may sound, Thabo reminds me of Scottie Pippen. Yes I know people are sick of the Michael and Scottie comparison, but hear me out. First thing that reminds me of him is Thabo's length. The second thing is that he dribbling style closely resembles Scottie's. Now the things that matter. When Thabo is on a fast break, or is driving to the basket he looks identical to Scottie's style except the hairstyle. He is a "Poor Man's" Scottie right now.

You Make The Comparison, First take a look at Scottie than Thabo.

Rodzilla

Otacon's Double Team post really got my creative juices flowing, along with a few other juices.... The 90's may go down as the greastest era for the NBA of all-time. So many great players participated in this era from the ending of careers like Bird, Isiah, Magic, to the prime of careers of Mike, Malone, Ewing, Miller, Zo, Grandma-ma, Kemp, Shaq, Pippen, The Dream, Barkley, Etc. and to the beginnings with KG, Kobe, etc. the list could go on and on... but the greatest part of this era and what made it great, was the sick rivalries and intensity...

The best rivalry of this era may be Dennis Rodman and Karl Malone.... These two battled it out to the max in the NBA Finals twice, and even in the regular season... believe me there is no love lost between these two monster Power Forwards.... but the climax of this rivalry did NOT take place on the basketball court... no no no... the only way to finish this fued was inbetween the ropes WCW style... no but seriously...

Rodman aka Rodzilla who is part of nWo... team's up with Hulk Hogan to face DDP and Karl Malone tag team style... I'll let the video do the talking from here.... Enjoy...

Bulls Light Up Jazz Like a Blunt

The Bulls bounced back from a tough road loss to Detroit on Sunday with a solid 108-96 win over Utah Tuesday night at the UC. Drew Gooden put forth his best performance thus far in a Bulls uniform with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. Thabo Sefolosha also chipped in with 11 points and 3 dimes in limited minutes in his first game back from a groin injury. The Bulls are primed to make a solid playoff push now with 7 of their next 9 games against teams with sub .500 records, but will face the streaking 76ers in Chicago on Friday.

Greatest Movie Ever?

The 1995-96 Bulls are arguably one of the greatest teams ever assembled in NBA history. That year the Bulls accomplished a regular season record of 72-10 that has yet to be rivaled. However, not only was this a team of great athletes, this was a team of great movie stars....yes you heard me correct. Michael Jordan made quite possibly one of the greatest movies ever filmed in Space Jam. Yet, what most people do not know or failed to remember was the box office hit from a Bull other than Jordan. In 1997 Hollywood would be forever changed as Dennis Rodman and Jean Claude van Damme teamed up for the classic Double Team.

Van Damme plays the assassin Jack Quinn who was appointed to kill off the dangerous Starvos. However, when he misses his target, he is sent away to the "Colony". From there Quinn is able to escape and seek the help of Yaz (played to perfection by Rodman) who is a weapons dealer. Together, Yaz and Quinn team up to rescue Quinn's wife who was kidnapped by Starvos. If you haven't seen this movie yet please go to the nearest place where video tapes are rented ( I don't think it ever made it to DVD) and rent and/or buy it.

I could be wrong on this, but I am pretty sure that Rodman was nominated for a Golden Globe for best supporting actor on this movie. Don't take my word for it, but I am pretty sure that I am right.

Please take 2 minutes out of your day and enjoy the cinematic masterpiece that is the Double Team trailer

Also, just to give you a taste of what some of the acting is like in this movie, take a look at this classic van Damme clip from Kickboxer

In summary, this movie is awesome, and I certainly hope that the Bulls can turn this season around and make a push for the playoffs. But if they don't, well, then I can always kick back and relax and enjoy a movie that has transformed the art of film....and so should you.
